I backed the pivot pin off just a tad, now when i pull the ball back the knife self closes with very very little imput from me but still solid lock up, love it for work

. these spyderco knives as of late are at their upper price points, they make some great well loved knives at lower price points, but even in the upper price range they are built to take some thumping, find the youtube video of bladehq and late boy scout takimg the para2 out on some trails, they thump on it hard and it holds up. enduras, tenacious and a lot of others are loved for half the money or 3/4s of the price

Not exactly new, but here's my line-up for EDCs. First up is a custom made by Mike Dilluvio. I've had this knife a long long time and have never used it, just like to look at it, particularly the file work. Next is Kershaw 1660, as close to a switchblade as I care to get. Then my three Spydies: Chapparal in S30V, Sage 2 in titanium (I love this knife) and finally a Para Mil 2 from a sprint run, in S90V with a carbon fiber handle. I've had this knife about 4 years now and have never used it. It sits in a box getting more valuable each year. One of these days I'll put it up for sale. Maybe an auction on KKF??!!

For me, I've found that Spyderco works closely with factories to ensure tight tolerances and very good quality control. They also use high quality steel like Aogami super blue, S30V, CPM 3V, CPM 4v, ZDP-189, VG-10, H-1, etc.. They've even done some stainless clad AS knives. They also work with some great knife makers and designers to produce functional/ergonomic/unusual knives.

I plan on snagging a dragonfly with a ZDP-189 blade sometime soon. I'm mainly interested in trying different steels, rather than collecting different models.

I just set a new record. Inspired by this thread I replaced the D2 leek that I liked but lost - and lost the new one within less than 24h. I give up.

I had a rainbow-finish Leek that I loved. Great knife and the finish never wore off. Slipped out of my pocket somewhere on the Great Wall of China. Got a D2 model because I still liked the knife shape, and I have no idea what happened to it.

The only knife that I've lost as easily was my first Spyderco DF2 in ZDP-189. The wire clip loosens too easily and the knife slipped out of my pocket when getting off a bus somewhere. I replaced it with another one because I really like the knife, but I almost lost it the exact same way, so I removed the clip entirely and let the knife ride free in my pocket. I want a non-wire clip for it someday.

That knife with koa scales would be my first choice - besides a custom job - but at the rate I lose them, I cannot afford it... Nice score, Jim!

That is a nice looking knife Jim. The blade shape is one I am partial to. It is a real knife but not bulky. It won't detract from the line of your Dolce & Gabbana gaberdine trousers. ;)

  20. I see that CRK gets some love here, I have one in my sights. What about Hinderer? As AD, I can get one for retail price ($385).
