Pics not showing up

Hi, just tried to post some pics in the Great Outdoors thread, linked the URL's to Dropbox and they showed up ok when I was creating the post but they are not showing up now I have posted the reply, no problems putting my pics in the Watches thread though. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

 

The mushroom3.JPG that you linked from your dropbox account weights 17MB (that means it's HUGE). That could be a problem here.

Yikes, any idea if there is a size limit on here? thought it only mattered if you loaded pics directly from your computer?

 

Admins should be able to give proper answers, but from what I'm seeing: when you upload files from computer here, they would be resized by Fora and should works just fine.

Fora seems to serve images from 3rd party sites (like dropbox or flickr) using some kind of images proxy. I don't know why this was done, but this proxy seems to be the source of problem. It may have size limits set or timeouts, or some other rules that wouldn't prevent showing huge images. And that's for good. Loading huge images in browsers would hurt site performance badly (especially on mobiles)

 

Ok I will make sure my files are a reasonable size, don't want to be responsible for slowing down the forum

Think it was just the stupidly large file size I was trying to link, resized them and all seems ok, thanks anyway

The image proxy is in place to prevent Malware warnings from hotlinked images (When the hotlinked domain gets a virus / malware embed, it can cause warnings for OUR users. So we proxy the images through a script to prevent that from happening)
