  4. It's 180mm, lol. Smallish, yes...but I wouldn't call it a 'baby' knife =p.

The thickest part of the flare out in the choil...just where my finger leaves the blade, is 1.8mm. The spine is just 1.08mm :).

She's going to be a fun little knife...for sure!

  8. Aww...thanks a ton my friend!! I really, REALLY don't want to give that one up, that's for sure!

those necklaces are sick Cris. I would wear one

  10. Thanks man :). They are a complete and total pain in the ass to make, but when I get to the end of a bar and cut off the last few inches that I didn't use (saves me time forging out a tang or tip), I figure I may as well make a couple out of it.

    I hate wasting steel!

Killer looking blades, Chris, keep up the GREAT work!

  12. Thanks brother!

I'm currently dialing in my heat treat with this new batch of W2. For some reason it won't harden in my Parks 50. I'm figuring its an issue with the oil, as I have the certification on this batch of steel, and it's impeccable. That said, I'm back to brine quenching, which I feel is ever so slightly superior anyhow...but there is definitely a larger failure rate. After two weeks of messing with the oil unsuccessfully however, I have to say it's great to have a hardened blade in hand!

195mm ko-gyuto, 50mm heel height. I've got a feeling this one's going to be pretty :). It's also SCEAMING hard at a calibrated file tested 65HRC.

Tomorrow, it'll be on to heat treating three full length gyuto (FINALLY getting those two passaround knives done!), a 300mm+ sujihiki, and two petty's :).

    Busy day!!

Yep, someone's going to be pretty happy with that, I think.

  20. Thanks guys!

This is the start of the intended handle for it...we'll see if it actually makes it on the knife:

Still need to size the handle, cut the facets in, oil, polish, and wax it...but the hard part's done. After that it's a simple fitment to the knife...and see how she works!
