After years of searching, I settled on the Polsilvers to replace the old swedish Gillettes, which were my favorites. Good combination of smooth and sharp.

For low priced blades, it's hard to beat the Astras.

I'm the guy that really doesn't like the Astras. I do like both polsilvers and the yellow gilette a lot. I also have a couple of packs of personna reds, and I like them, but they usually get passed over. Maybe I'll mow with them tomorrow.

Tried a KAI blade today. Pretty damn good! 3 full passes, plus some touch ups. 1 tiny nick (operator error, did a touch up with a wet face, skin grabbed a touch and got a tiny nick), 1 small weeper, no irritation! Too bad they are usually pretty expensive ($4.00 for 5 blades).

I ordered a Parker TTO in Gunmetal, Parker 24C open comb and some Crystal blades, Gillette 7 oclock SuperStainless Greens, PolSilver, Lords Super Stainless and Shark Super Stainless to give those a try as well.

Tried my Parker 22R the past 2 shaves with a Crystal blade. Shaved well, couple small weepers the first shave, 1 weeper that closed with a cold water rinse on the 2nd day. Felt more aggressive than my DE89 where I could feel the blade on the skin more (not in a bad way), but it didn't seem to cut as smoothly/effortlessly than the DE89. Didn't seem to cut as close in general (may be the blade?), but no irritation on the neck even after doing touch ups with just a wet face/razor. Blade seems aligned properly with the TTO system, too. Blade head is thin and light, handle is heavy, so it doesn't have the same feel of the DE89 just using the weight of the head on your face, so that may be why it feels like it doesn't cut as well? I may throw a Crystal into the DE89 tomorrow and do a better comparison of the 2 razors.

Put a Shark Super Stainless into my Parker 22R and 24C today and used the 24C. Very clean, smooth shave, no weepers or irritation! Even did a S-N pass all along my cheeks with just a wet face, no irritation! Gonna use the 22R on Sat to see how that fares and the EJ89 with the Shark to see how that blade feels on Sunday.

You're going to be bored in a few weeks when you figure out what you like... until someone sends you soap samples hahahaa

  12. It's nice watching the journey. In my case I bought a box full of feathers to use with my tech. And it's been a journey of learning to get used to the feathers. Once I get proficient in about 5 years. I will try other blades :p.

I did a minor restore on this (just replaced the broken lid and cleaned up a lot of gunk). Thought I was going to do a full restore, but I just decided to start using it
