150mm W2 petty/utility. This one was a custom order that fell through, and so...the slot's available. Pricing is $500 as a custom (with a handle of your choice...meaning you pick the materials and we work on the layout together, along with tailoring the edge profile and grind geometry to your preferences), or it'll be for sale for $450 as a finished knife with a handle of my choice.

    Thanks for looking guys :).

This 265mm gyuto is also up for grabs (the 150 petty is there below it...but might be spoken for). Picking up one of these before its finished is a quick way to jump ahead of the waiting list.

I'm trying to get a video up on Youtube. The hamon on that gyuto is crazy ;).

  4. Petty is sold pending funds ;)

STUNNING, STUNNING, STUNNING!!! I wish I had a pocket full of cash right now ($500.oo would do :) GLWS! Btw, did I say how stunning this knife was?

  6. Some kind of cool pictures I took today, since all of these handles had a similar theme in their pattern layouts...

  7. Hey there guys! I finally got the video uploaded on that gyuto and petty. Pricing on the guyto is $3.50/mm of edge length, depending on the handle materials chosen (certain materials like bog oak, musk ox horn, koa...etc are exceedingly expensive and might impact the overall price). I've had a number of PM's on it already, so if you're interested, get with me on the deposit total and we'll get it taken care of :).

Right now it sits at 265mm, and about 47mm on the heel. It's more suited to a laserish grind, but it still has enough material left that I can leave some weight in it.

    Beautiful work Cris.
The handles, the blades and great photos too.
    Thank you for posting these.

  9. Thank you for appreciating them sir! As well as for supplying a substantial quantity of the beautiful burls I use to make them!

Hand rubbed with iron oxide powder and polished with Brasso. I may actually go back and redo my 1500 grit polish completely...we'll see. I will say, in hand...it's a pretty spectacular effect...and in natural light it's flat wild. You can see hints of it in the pictures...but all of the dark cloudiness you see below the hardening line is reflected above it in lighter tones. The top picture shows it best. I usually have this kind of activity show up in my knives, but this one is just packed full of it. It's going to be hard to let go, lol.

Anyhow, this knife is for sale for $925. It's 265mm, 47mm on the heel, with a heavier laser geometry than I typically use. Spine thickness over the heel is right at 2mm, and it will have all the cutting efficiency of my light weight lasers (.8mm 1cm above the cutting edge, and 1.5mm or so at 2cm above the edge). However, I carried more weight through the blade than I normally do (less back cut to the spine basically). All in all I like it a lot, and may make this grind my new standard.

I was planning on starting a handle for it tonight, but will hold off a day or so to see if someone is interested in picking it up. If they do, they'll basically be buying the slot that was ordered for this knife...and I'll treat it as a full custom (you work with me on the handle) with no wait. I'd prefer 50% down, but I'm willing to work with someone if they're genuinely interested. Completion can be as early as next week.

Thanks for looking guys and gals!

With the ninja turtle mask tobiyaki and a blue handle, definitely consider the name I suggested earlier.

I think it would be funny to use oosic for the handle.
Then she asks her husband "Oosic, what's that?"
Definitely would want to get that on video.

  17. Thank you my friend!! I'm grateful as always for the appreciation!

I was sooooo close lol...but Brooke really wanted the bog oak, and there wasn't room in the color layout I chose for two browns lol.

This is how it turned out:

Thanks to Robert and Mark...I was able to get her three favorite colors on one handle...and even squeezed in some bog oak for cool factor :D.

    I am pleased lol.

Yeah, I always thought Donatello was a great complement to Leonardo.

In all seriousness, it's a very cool knife. Hopefully mine will be at least half as nice.
