    I am back !!! Well it has been a hell of a 3 weeks ,last week was big , heading to another big one and then couple easy weeks at work before I head to USA , In the meantime I managed to finish some customs , only have few more left

    A 240mm gyuto forged from 52100 , with ringed gidgee and brass handle , 2.41mm at the thickest point of spine , 49mm tall at the heel , 174 grams

    This one is a remake of a custom that I posted last month , first one was thinner than requested and had some hammer scars thus deserved the name scarface . Hopefully this one should please him
    , 270mm wa gyuto forged from 52100, with African Blackwood , marbled horn and nickel spacer . 53 mm tall , 3.7mm thick at the heel with a heavy convex grind with slight right hand bias .

    thanks guys , Anton when I showed the on FB someone commented on it saying the handle was very shig , to be honest I haven't noticed until now , I had made few western until I first held a yo shig ( Chanop 's 180 petty ?? ) it is not my intention to copy anyone's work

    the handle looks like a tansu not like a shig. and its beautiful. i think anton was saying that shig cant compete with this level of quality!
     
  8. Yeah, what Brad said. Shigefusa has kind of became a national brand for Australia and I can see this changing in the next few years as experience and market share of local Australian makers grow.

    That 150 kitaeji yo petty handle was Dan's work. 240 yo handle was original.

    I would say, it has some resemblance, but Shig handle is way way smaller than Mert's handles that I have seen, for which Shigefua smaller yo handles fit my hands better.

    I have started making the handles slightly smaller but overall they are still bigger than japanese yo handles , Antons gyuto ( western with ringed gidgee ) is as small as I would like to go on a 240mm

    This was recently finished but handle mounting wasn't as good as should be , now it's all fixed , going to a good home
