    I have to admit though, that one almost didn't get sold lol. Clear up until the day I mailed it I was half considering refunding his money too!!

    Just kidding! Well...partially lol!

    As for myself, my most recent acquisition (and only acquisition this year lol!) was my new bow.

    2014 Xpedition Xcentric. It'll put a 350g arrow down range at over 350 feet per second. I'm developing my own broadheads, and even with my shorter draw length it puts them through week old beef shoulders (read...STUPIDLY hard bone!) without a second thought.

    Anyway...here's the bow:

    And some of the damage it did. It ended up taking almost an inch and a half thick week dead calcified bone to stop it. I'm sure pretty much everyone on this forum understands the difference between living bone and bone that's been dead awhile. I have no doubts that even at 40-50yds, this setup would go through two shoulders in a living elk.

    Anyhow, that's my new stuff :).

    I've not had my bow out of the case in over ten years, but every now and then something will get me thinking about it. You just did.

  11. It's very serious lol...among the fastest bows on the market today. I may pick up another here in a bit, that IS the fastest.

    Glad I got you thinking lol! And yes...the cams are pretty serious on this...but the draw is buttery smooth, if a bit stiff up front. The speed this thing generates is far out of proportion to the feel of the draw. It's truly a great bow.

    No m'am. It's differentially hardened W2...just like the knife above it. Every single aspect of that broadhead is designed for function. The single bevel causes severe torque on impact, snapping bone, twisting tissue and drawing it into the edges, and generally wreaking havoc on anything it contacts. The length and angle of the blades reduces resistance as the blade penetrates, allowing the arrow to maintain more kinetic energy and momentum, for longer. The cut on contact tanto tip makes the blade almost indestructable, and will actually turn the head INTO the target on a glancing shot, rather than allowing it to deflect off. The differential hardening lets the softer body to absorb the shock of impact...allowing for a far harder edge, which gives the same benefits to the broadhead that it does to our kitchen knives. Those being added sharpness and better edge retention. The negatives of an ultra hard edge...chippiness and a tendancy to snap...are negated by my heat treat. This blade is sitting at 62HRC on the edge....which we all know is decent hardness even for a chef's knife. Now imagine firing your gyuto into concrete hard bone at 250-300 feet per second. This broadhead takes it without blinking.



    There's a local shop that wants to sell them for $125-$150 each lol. I'm still not sure that's enough to cover the labor :p.

    How do the fly? Same impact point as field points or is re-tuning needed? Super cool concept & the theory is sound, Impressive. :cool:
     
  13. If you look at the picture of the target I posted earlier you'll notice some bareshafts in there with the fletched :D.





    Funny thing...the vanes I use are in no way recommended to steer broadheads lol....much less big old sailboats like mine. Doesn't seem to be a problem though :D!

    I started looking for a new bow last October. I shot everything on the market in my price range ($500-$1000)...and most of the ones above...which basically was only the carbon Hoyts. This bow blew them all away. The closest to it was the new Hoyt Nitrum Turbo...but this has dual limb stops vs the Hoyt's string stops...which basically makes it a whole other beast. There was something about the PSE bows I just didn't like.

    Funny thing is, even the PSE Full Throttle was only marginally faster than this bow...and the draw was just horrible.

    I definitely got the best bow for me :).

    240mm length, a tad over 50mm height at the heel. Big western handle made from dense Ringed Gidgee. But guess how much it weight? 175g.

    How?! Well, it's thin. Very thin. Very very thin

    S-grind on right side. Now it's time to buy a ton of potatoes, carrots, onions and other stuff to keep myself busy enjoying new knife.
