Cris, I actually liking the first picture best. I think its nice looking slim and slick handle. Fits the blade for me. The last one looks very chubby.
Is it comfortable? I would think the front of the "ferrule" might apply some pressure to the middle of the hand, when in a pinch grip?

Or am I talking out my arse :Dave?

  2. I still like the first one as well...it would just be very difficult to make to an acceptable level of quality for me lol...in any reasonable amount of time.

As for the second, it's actually very comfortable to me. The dimensions are the same as my typical ferrules...around 16-18mm wide and 20-22mm tall. The front of the ferrule sort of 'locks' into the groove between your middle and ring fingers...making things very secure. (I'll take some 'in hand' pictures here shortly). To be honest, I can't much tell the difference between this handle and any other handle on one of my knives...other than perhaps a BIT more grip for my pinky. But then again, I can use one of my knives very comfortably with no handle at all as well...so I don't know whether my opinion applies. I do know that Son was initially sort of skeptical about my choil and ferrule combination, but after using my knife in a professional kitchen for 12-14hrs shifts 6-7 days a week...he very much approved. I only say that to illustrate one person's opinion in a hard use setting, since I have no experience in that kind of scenario to be able to say 'It works great!' lol.

I also have smaller hands than a lot of you guys. I know that both Marko's handles, and Butch's feel VERY large to me while many of you all love them. This isn't said to take ANYTHING away from them! They are both incredible makers whose work I respect very much! It's just the way their knives feel in MY hand. More typically sized Japanese handles fit me better, and are what I used to give me a beginning sizing template for my own handles.

  3. So I'm not sure what the deal is with YouTube. Sometimes my videos post crystal clear...other times (same camera, same everything), they post at 360p or less. Kind of ridiculous in my opinion...and if you want a full resolution video it's over on my Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/scorpionforge.

Anyway, I did a video rather than take pictures lol:

Maybe that will show what I seem to be having trouble explaining...or possibly, if I'm looking at it wrong you guys can show me what your concerns still are!
