  2. Alrighty. Handle material is on its way...and it's time for me to start this build :).

I'm thinking I'll likely do something 'in between' the two blue (well, I thought they were both blue until I took side by side pictures...lol) handled razors I've recently posted. Something with a taller, 8/8 sized blade...but with more hollow. The form factor will be similar to the 'stubby' 6/8.

Here's the two (very different) razors in comparison:

I think for the donation razor I'll be going for a fully polished blade, with a similar grind line setup to the bigger 9/8...only with a twist. More on that later. The tail and thumb notch will be like the smaller 6/8. Blade profile will be more like the 6/8 as well...again, with a bit of a twist.

I will probably do two razors at once on this one...that way if one fails for whatever reason, I won't have to start over completely. I need a dedicated razor of my own as well lol...so it works out :D.

    More pictures hopefully tonight ;).

This should be a fun thread! Looking forward to it. :)

  9. First concept?

    Hmm....

I like it. Dunno if I should even bother with the nickel silver in between the stripes at this point. The simple contrasting colors looks pretty wicked.

  10. Also...the blade finish should be glossy I think...vs the rustic finish of that blade, more like this:

    Hamon.jpg

    I think...I have enough to start :D.

  12. Well, you don't much get 'glossy mirror' so much with a visible hamon...though there's levels of compromise. If you want the hamon visible you tend to get more of a grey finish on the blade. We'll see how it goes though...every blade is definitely different.

all i can say is... yup

    btw keep the Hamon

  14. I've never made a blade of any type in my life that didn't have a hamon man...lol. I even got a freakin .40 carbon railroad spike to take a hamon! Not gonna start with this one :D.

  16. Yeah the hamon is awesome. And the concept is great without the spacers

  17. What do you not like about the spacers? Without them its just a pink handle ;).

  18. Meant the extra nickel you were thinking of. Sorry left half the sentence off. Though I would totally go for the straight pink.
