  4. Holy hamon batman! That's some pretty crazy work Cris!

  5. Thanks guys! This one took a bit of work to get there...but she sure turned out pretty I think!

  6. Hmmm...what have we here??

Some of you may remember the leather sheath I did for @Boris' Zakuri from JKI. Well...with the HUGE delay on finishing it...I decided to throw in a new handle wrap for him :).

Yes, that other 'sheath' is the one that came with the thing, lol. For some reason it puts me in mind of something from a child's cowboy and indian play set :p.

Also, for those of you curious...this is how the sheath is designed to be carried:

    Fun stuff :D.

  7. Pretty nasty, lol......but yours, dam, and the handle wrap :cool1

The red, is very...very accurate in direct sunlight lol, and the brown is as well. Honestly it's very cool wood! The walrus tusk and mokume are going to add just the right amount of class I think...!

And the blade that's going along with it all...

    :D

  10. That is amazing

  11. Thanks Alex :)

  12. :D

  13. That suji hamon might be one of my favorites I've seen from you yet =)

  14. Thanks Mike! It's actually a stock knife. I made it for @apathetic, but it was too warped at the 350mm that he wanted to straighten, so I had to lose 30mm of it. Be looking for another one to replace it at 350mm in the near future :D. When @FinnEdge saw how well it matched his little gyuto, he snatched it up immediately :).

  15. Beautiful as usual!

  16. Thanks Stephen!! The next pair should be pretty cool as well!

  17. Whoever would have thought Kingwood would be so beautiful finished out?

Oh, yes. Me. This was another piece of wood no one wanted (along with its twin). Good thing @FinnEdge was open minded :D!

And on the knife it will eventually belong to, lol:

Kingwood is pretty charming there. That spacer arrangement seems to be working out very well too.

  20. It's funny that you said it smelled like roses when you grind it. It Is a rosewood species. Very oily and does not need to be stabilized. However , like rosewood, it will patina and darken over time.
