The Fountain Pen Thread

I'm in love with the look of Sailor, and Montblanc old school (like ok 146). Actually, I was checking them out on ebay, and the guy seemed legit, but I don't know enough about them.

James, I'm pretty sure you might have suggested a Lamy Safari to me on B&B, though I might be hallucinating.

 

A safari wouldnt usually be me unless you were asking if they were okay. They have an oddball grip to them I never got along with, and im not really fond of there looks, they have the odd QC issue as well, though they do offer great value, I would try to push you into something else. If you are in the MB and Sailor price brackets I would push Japanese pens, they offer sever cost to performance value, Sailors are great, as are Platinum and Pilot Custom Heritage pens. MB ive never used one, so I cant directly comment, but I can say Ive never seen a member complain about them either which says a lot. my fav pens are all by Pilot, though I just gave away a Platinum pen for a PIF and I was sorry to see it go, it was a great pen (I had to try it before I sent it, you know to make sure it was good, not because I was way to curious to just send it out), but I dont like it as much as my Pilot CH912 or 92 pens, A Pilot Custome heritage 743 is in my future at some point, and they have like 20 (Maybe more) nib options at that pen

But the Germans do make great pens MB or Pelikan should never be over looked, if you like the looks of any pen, I wouldnt be worried about liking them as they are all great performers. But with the impending secret plan about to drop soon,... Id hang tough till you see what that is as whenever the braintrust gets together to make something for the members, they always get high quality at a great price

Thanks Andy. I've barely written anything since I did my Christmas cards. Too much time in the kitchen which is really a pity. I love the bottle of Edelstein Amber I got from Wanderlust. I need to use it more.

How about a pen on one side and a knife on another?

 

I have this old pen, I think it might be a Parker. It has this pump thingy in the end of it. The nib looks like gold. The striations in the cap and barrel almost have a shadowing effect. The pen is currently lost in the pine barrens, but do youse guys know what it could be? Someday I may see it again.

Pens go in, but they so Rarely come out of that Dark pit
