With the whole shaving, and pen stuff I know how amazing vintage items can be. I know what brands I like and look out for, but with knives, well I dont know a whole lot. Wouldnt mind some discussion on who makes a great vintage blade for you, and of course pictures are always welcome. Wouldnt mind to know if you truly thing modern knives surpass vintage blades in most all ways, or if they dont make them like they used to. I know a lot of the Japanese Blacksmiths use very old methods and even some modern ones are almost vintage in a way,... but anything and everything Vintage have at it. Ill just sit back and read

The four star elephant Sabatiers are TI.

If a smelter is producing great steel, why not use it for all edged items if it can be?

I have a vintage Dexter 3576 carbon steel skinning knife. It looks just like this one. I don't know what level of quality it would be considered, but it will take an edge pretty nicely.

There is a lot of love for old Forgecraft knives. I have an old butcher knife and steel from my father, Premier branded.
