Killdeer nest

I found a Killdeer nest in the pasture today. I’m not sure how common (if at all) these birds are in other parts of the world but here in Tennessee they are really common. A ground dwelling bird (hence why the nest is on the ground). When you get close to the nest the bird will run away and act hurt to draw you away from the nest. I guess for us smart humans the bird just gives it away that there’s a nest close by. Took me 15 minutes to find it. I looked yesterday for 15 minutes as well.

I’ll take a pic further way tomorrow so y’all can get an understanding of how well hidden they are.

That’s cool man! Amazing it’s not extinct considering all the creatures that slink around looking for an easy meal.

Ground nesting seems a bit suicidal! At least you know the eggs are there now and won't make scrambled eggs with the mower!
