It looks like they were meant to be bulldogs, have fun tying that square shank into a round bowl. I have faith in you!

I finally finished my latest pipe from a kit, I went with a holiday theme for the Irish folk. tmp_pipe2014 045-441630129.jpg tmp_pipe2014 039896257082.jpg tmp_pipe2014 043-2012661910.jpg

Cant believe how nice that turned out Jason. Brilliant idea with the first ink, almost looks like a St. Patty's Nording freehand

I found a new way to use up fountain pen inks to boot!

What is typically used for stain?

Usually it's an alcohol based stain. The stuff I used to use came in a powder that you mixed with denatured alcohol. I didn't have the patience to wait for an order, so I went to the ink collection, which are essentially water based stains anyway, with a few exceptions.

Wow nice job Jason, I can see you walking down 5th avenue with it in the parade. wait better not you might get arrested for smoking...

Have you broken it in yet?

Not yet, the red cedars are in full pollination mode here, they kill my sinuses. I thought I was going to blackout from a 5 minute sneezing fit today.

I used to smoke pipes, mostly very nice vintage stuff, but they were stolen in a break-in. I still have several GL Pease blends aging in jars, but I'm not sure if I'll ever have a pipe again.

********, I should buy some pipes: I just realized that I've had GL Pease blends aging for 3 years. I bet they are ready!

So I started and finished this on this morning. Call it training wheels. First time I ever tried something like this. Learned a couple things.
