I like me my Fatboy or my Tojiro Petty in WHite #1 when I feel like getting it hair popping sharp. I have a F Koehler straight somewhere that isn't bad, I just prefer the DE or a GEM 1912. [IMG]

Just honed this up for a customer. It is the single most impressive razor I've ever used. It will be missed, but I needed to pay for the nursery I just made. :)

I have recently grown a beard (don't tell Jim), but my set up is a Muhle 2011 R41, Feather/Astra SP blades, Proraso cream(the old stuff) and a vintage Rooney butterscotch brush I restored with a silvertip knot from TGN.

I tried straight shaving a few times, but I don't think the razor was sharp enough so I put it on the stones and now it is way too dull. Can anyone give me some tips or instruction on how to sharpen straight razors? A video would be awesome.

Sharpening a straight is as big of topic as sharpening a knife. There is lots out there to post you to. A lot of us here are partial to the BadgerandBlade.com. It too has some of Jim's attention.

Shaved wet for years, stopped, then took it up again a couple of years ago. Gillette DE's, Super Iridium blades, and Simpson brushes. Recently scored this nice rose-tinged Somerset Eagle at Badger and Blade; might have to replace the Pure badger knot, though.

If you need a guy to do it for you, I'll do it for free, assuming you have the knot.

That puck of Arlington has the durability of an Everlasting Gobstopper, Jim.

Recently it's a few New (old ones at that :D ) with Feathers and I Coloniali soap. With a rotation of a Plisson, Simpson and Rooney.

I have an old (2008) tallow puck of that. It's fantastic! I have several (many) hard soaps in rotation, plus one soft soap. I use old Superspeed DEs and a Tech. I'd like to try a straight razor, but mountain bikes, fountain pens, fly fishing gear, and kitchen knives are demanding all my time and money these days.

I have a small collection of brushes (an Omega Pro Boar that I got as a souvenir in Italy, Rooney 1/1, 2 custom Shavemacs [finest and D01], a Wee Scot, Edwin Jagger travel brush, and an M&F "Chief"). I can't imagine a nicer brush than that M&F.

I recently found the joy of a good wet shave and started with a DE some CL Conk soap and I'm hooked. looking to upgrade the brush first and foremost.

I haven't bit on a newer brush. I have only ever had two. An omege boar and badger that came with a tub of TOBS sandalwood. I'm content with the small badger but wonder what a nice Kent or Rooney would be like.
