1st Annual Seattle International Knife Show

Discussion in 'Get togethers, Tastings, Restaurant Openings, Etc' started by oivind_dahle, Apr 8, 2014.

  1. I'll be there with camera in hand. In fact if you follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter ( just one, doesn't have to be all three) you'll get to see a live stream of photos, not just from the show as it's happening, but from the Pre-Funk at David Lisch's shop where makers will be putting on demonstrations and doing what they do best!

  3. This goes out to all whom, sadly are unable to make it to Seattle for this weekend's show. I know that for the most part, the wonderful folks on the forums get filled in on the shows they miss a bit after the show has even happened. I want to give all of you a chance to see the events as they are happening by following Maumasi Fire Arts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

You'll get behind the scenes and see today's "Pre-funk" at Dave Lisch's Dragonfly Studio and Studio 4 Forging Facility. Over Saturday and Sunday you'll get to see the incredible collection of Bladesmiths and Knifemakers that the Blade Gallery has assembled for this rockstar show, their beautiful work, and an inside look at the Saturday VIP reception and Award Presentations!

So follow us on whichever platform works best for you. Share, Like and Comment to spread the word so everyone can get the chance to see the excitement!

Thanks everyone and I look forward to seeing your comments!

    Oivind,

No pictures, but I tried to take care of a couple of your favorite knife makers since you weren't able to make it.

    Great photos Gunner!
BTW; what did you put in Taro's coffee?

Taro was in knife heaven with sleep deprivation and the coffee actually just mellowed him out a little. He was threatening to lick that bubble wrap Damascus that Devin brought.

Haha! I look a bit zombiemoneky in these. That is what I get for driving up after closing the restaurant on Fri so I could make the 11AM opening. Just wanted to apologize for running around in there. I would like to blame John's coffee, sleep deprivation and the knives... Wow, the knives.
Thank you EE, Drew, and Daniel for the wonderful event. Gratz Marko and Andrew on the awards! Thank you Hoss, Marko, Bill, JD and David for the education and wonderful company and conversations. I learned so much just in a few days about steel, geometry, eating, and life. It was great to see some of the newer makers(Haburn, Todd, Bill's daughter(I was too stupid to ask her name and am sorry!) and their work as well. Last, but not least thank you Michael, Marko, and Shigefusa via EE for my new knives! I wish I could remember everyone else right now, but too sleepy and am sorry. Hope to see you soon Mr. Farley and someday sooner than later Mr. Mclean!

    Taro,

did you grab that gorgeous western Shigefusa with the Daniel O'Malley handle? That was a sweet looking knife! It was great to meet the makers in person--and I got a hug from Hoss!:hoss:jump
