I once got a hickey from a gorilla that looked similar.

  7. Well...it's been a month lol.

What on earth are you doing making out with a gorilla man?!

    :D

Wow Cris, a truly beautiful razor and a thorough WIP.
I'm going to watch this closely in the auction.
This is definitely going to cause a ruckus.

Grind is finalized, blade is repolished, and this is right out of the acid. My goal will be a cool mottled lighter grey for this blade. Leaving some of the oxides on the blade/tang seems to help with grip, as well as just looking cool :).

All rubbed down. The pictures don't do the look of it justice. At all. I may also take a dremel and small buffer, and polish the perimeter (all the rounded edges) to add some visual interest. I haven't quite decided yet lol. Regardless though, the razor should be finished tonight :D.

  12. Annnnnd.....

I'm actually peening on the scales now, and will be making a video of the mostly finished razor here shortly. There will still be a few small things that need done, but otherwise, this one is finished :).

This is such a comprehensive Wip. Thanks Cris, its been a very enjoyable read. Now its job is to raise a bunch of moola in the auction for the NBCF.

  17. Thank you Jim! I was really glad to be able to participate in such an interactive manner!

I am not surprised at the lack of comments in the other thread.. even the razor guys have no idea what it takes to accomplish this result. I am sure they are just overwhelmed with info.

  19. I kind of wondered about that myself. I didn't expect pages and pages of responses, but mostly it's just us chatting there lol.

I'm very surprised no one does WIP's over there? I mean...as a maker, I enjoy sharing them with you all regardless...but even if I didn't...showing people the amount of work involved can only help them appreciate the finished product. That is never a bad thing!

  20. Annnnd the last pictures I'll be sharing (barring any unforseens lol). I need to pop the pin and do a bit more work to the scales so the blade closes perfectly (it's a bit off center), but!...I'll shave with this tonight and let you all know how it goes :D. One thing about these pictures, is the color is a bit off. I did what correction I could to make it match reality, but the end result was more red than anything. The actual color is more of a pink with an orangish tint...kind of a salmon color if you will. The one thing that IS accurate is the luminosity lol. They're practically dayglo.

Anyhow, I hope you all have enjoyed following along with this WIP as much as I've enjoyed sharing it! I'm still refining various processes in the razor making thing, so it's probably not as efficient as it could be, but the end result is well worth the effort in my estimation. Hopefully whoever wins the auction agrees!!
