10000 year old handle.

It has been almost 4 years since I have had the time to pimp a knife. I had a bunch of mammoth ivory scraps I was trying to figure out what to do with. I sanded them flat and epoxied them together to make a ferrule for my Sukenari:

I like the look -- it breaks up the typical look of a solid single piece, adding a little more interest.

Great idea. I would not have liked combining different materials for the ferrule like that, but different shades of the same one works great IMHO.

I agree. I think the main thing I don't like it the more white piece of ivory. It was all the same color when I put them together, but when I sanded through that one white piece came out. Go figure...even 10000 year old natural pieces cause issues.
