I recently started using the scroll saw for some woodworking. It’s quite fun and relaxing. Been at it about a month now. First thing I tried was my name. Failed! Had to start over and watch some videos, ask some questions online, learned a bit more and went at it again. Having some mild success so far. And some fun along the way.

First project - snapped on me in 3 places. Apparently you are supposed to do the fretwork (inside cuts) first. Oops!

So then I did some ornaments. This is where you start to see my progression to better work. Some ladies at my mothers church wanted a bunch made for them so I did it for the pratice.

Got some decent wood, some decent blades, a new scroll saw which allowed me to use the better blades. It makes a difference!

This one is kinda cool. Supposed to wrap your earphones around it. Or other cords for management.

Anyway, here goes another rabbit hole!!

Sweet. This is nice. I have started woodworking earlier this year, after coming back from Japan. I thought that carpentry is a great skill to learn and you can master it over the years instead of doing random jobs. I have even found a nice job. I work for Devol Kitchens in UK. They are making high end kitchen for a very rich people. I am spending every free moment on making my own projects. Trying to learn things by hand. Here are few examples of my first projects:

This is my portable workbench. It is not finished, but I am using it at work and so far it is good. I plan to make few attachments in the future and once it will be ready I will take it home.

These are the additional Christmas gifts for my fiancee. It was also my first attempt on dovetail joints.

Boxes yes. The chopping boards were obviously made with the use of table saws, huge sanders etc. The advantage of my new work is that I can use the whole workshop in my free time. I really would like to learn manual, old-school woodworking and I am trying to use my hand tools as often as possible.

I had thought about doing what I can by hand. Sanding, mostly so far. But I can’t help but looking at all the power tools when I go to the store. And then I usually end up buying one. So then my thinking is “well...I have a lot of money invested in these power tools, I should be using those”. It’s a vicious circle!

My next project will be making a workbench out of pallets. I can get all the pallets I need from work. If the weather is permitting I’ll get started on it this week.

That looks like a pretty epic shop.
