Got a few more big scissors

I just gave away 4 pairs of nice forged carbon steel scissors to a neighbour so I thought I`d get a few more to replenish stocks ( that`s my excuse )
I got some English industrial scissors from Wilkinson in Sheffield - they are 12 inch and they weigh 724 grams which is 25.5 ounces / 1.59 lbs so they are serious carbon steel shears.

The CP-12 in the model name means chrome plated 12" ; they need oiling after use or storage because they are not stainless.
The quality is unbelievable and they can cut a 1/75th of an inch slice off a cigarette paper or many layers of thick denim in one go easily - I have 3 pairs because I know that they`re not going to be made in Sheffield, England forever.

The third picture down, bottom image shows a set of OXO goodgrips kitchen scissors for scale.

The other four pairs of 10 inch Kent and Stowe universal garden scissors are simply amazing for under ten dollars each so I got another 3 pairs; I have six identical ones now.
The reason why I like them is because I have been using them to cut 1/2 inch fresh privet hedge branches for 2 years outside and they make mincemeat of any rigid plastic or multiple thick layers of cardboard packaging but can also be used for cutting herbs like parsley, rosemary or chives and can spatchcock a big 6-7 lbs chicken in no time at all.
They are micro serrated so they grip things well preventing slipping, do not rust if left wet on the draining board overnight and are still very sharp after being used every day for over two years - total bargains.

 

I don't really have any need for such types of scissors. I'm happy with the cheap plastic ones in the junk drawer. But I'm glad I've learned of these high quality brands from you should I ever have the need. Thanks!
