How will the blueing hold up over time?

Nuts63, I have only tested it short term on a kitchen knife. and here is what I found.. It acts like a patina. And like a patina. because thats what it is. Like a patina, if you use a scouring pad it will scratch through the blue. Next I found that it was much better and long lasting if I did a 2 part process. Etching the blade to build some typography first. Then bluing..

The process I use is similar to how a gun barrel is blued. And if treated with reasonable care. it will look amazing and work to protect the steel for a very long time..

So to sum it up. Its pretty durable yet not bullet proof. In the kitchen under what I would consider normal use. It will fair well.

Thanks for posting the question. Let me know if I can answer any other questions.
