Hey guys and gals. I wanted to post a quick note here about MO Horn. You know the stuff. Its beautiful and amazing material.

The main reason for this post is to tell our knife makers and handle makers here.. That I have a limited supply and will be processing it for knife scales, blocks for Wa handle blocks and furrel pieces.

Any special requests can be sent to me through PM.

When I process this raw horn into scales or blocks. Im prone to cutting it into scales as this is what I use mainly and also when I resell it. I find scales sell 3 to 1 over blocks.. That said. If you guys contact me and request the material as blocks. Ill do my best to accommodate.

Ya just gota love MO horn. I mean look at the animal and you would be hard pressed to ever think something so amazingly beautiful would come from such a goofy looking creature! God sure does have a great sense of humor. lol

Are they harvested through hunting, or do try get them after thy die naturally? Just curious. Not trying to cause any trouble, but I couldn't help but wonder.

Always wondered. I'm guessing they eat the funny looking dudes, so it's ok. :)

I need to try some out sometime

No problems man. The bosses I get are mainly taken from natural kills. Weather it be from there age, weather, or predators.

    Interesting.

Probably any horns would work? Or do they have to have a specific quality? or compound in them?

Jason, In my experience. each animals horn looks unique. Meaning a deer horn and a elk horn although similar in some ways look different as a knife handle. Buffalo horn and musk ox horn and two very different material. Yet similar in some ways. Hope this helps you to better understand..

MO horn is quite unique in the patterning as well as its translucent appearance. Unlike any other horn material I have seen or used. Pair that with its rarity. and you have a very highly sought after material that makes amazing knife handles!!

Beautiful, are you stabilizing these the same way you do your mammoth tooth?

Randy, you need some qiviut socks to wear while you work with the horn. (Qiviut is the musk ox undercoat.) Only problem is a pair of sock can run about $175.

Matt, This is natural, Unstabilized material. It has however been cured for 3+ years prior to me processing it.
