Recommendations in OSAKA

    One of my students just started an internship in Osaka for a few weeks and asked if I had any recommendations for him , and I decided to pass the question to this community in case you have any suggestions you would care to share and that I can pass along in terms of places to visit, restaurants, things to do or any other other suggestion you think would be helpful. perhaps even a recommendation for a knife maker he could visit as an introduction to this world we share.

    I was in Osaka in April. I had a nice visit with Joe at Tower Knives. I stayed for a while and looked at and talked about a bunch of knives, but didn't end up buying anything. Everyone in the shop was very nice, and not the least bit pushy. There are a number of knife makers in nearby Sakai (roughly 15 minutes by train), but I'm not sure how open they are to visitors, or if speaking Japanese would be required. There is also a knife museum in Sakai.
