Taking Deposits on my Fixed Blade EDC Series

Discussion in 'CJA Edged Art / Scorpion Forge' started by CrisAnderson27, Sep 20, 2014.

  1. I'm going to be taking deposits on a run of four fixed blade EDC knives to be completed here shortly. The steel is AISI W2, and the blades will be differentially hardened to show a hamon. Edges should be right around 61HRC. The butt's will also be hardened for durability and aesthetics. They will also be drilled and chamfered for a lanyard if you choose to use one. ALL surfaces that aren't edge will be fully radiused for comfort and aesthetics.

    Pricing is as follows:

$300 for a smooth bodied blade with no scales or wrap. You can add your own wrap if you like, and I'll gladly notch the spine and grip for you before shipment (so the wrap will be cleanly inset). Gutted and potted paracord is incredibly durable and can be quite attractive also.

$350 for a wrapped blade. This will be just a basic potted 550 paracord wrap, most likely in black. I'll be happy to do your wrap in any color you like if you supply the paracord (you can buy short pieces on eBay).

$400 for a blade with stabilized scales. The scales will be inset from the spine and grip to the depth of the radiused edges (this is quite a bit of labor to do properly).

$400 for a blade with an 'art' handle wrap. I have a couple of different styles I'm willing to do...pictures will be posted below.

Deposits are $150, with the remainder due on completion. I've got a tentative 4 week schedule for them...barring any issues.

    Here's a few representative pictures:

Smooth polished blade. The owner of this knife never actually put scales OR a wrap on it...and says he likes it just fine. He made himself a kydex sheath for it and uses it as a neck knife while camping. Apparently it's wonderfully suited for skinning small game, and cleans up easiest just like it is.

Wrap style 1. This is my personal EDC. The wrap is potted leather braid, and the palm swell is forged wagon wheel wrought iron from an 1800's conestoga wagon.

Wrap style 2. This isn't the same style knife, but this wrap can be done as well. It's potted paracord over dyed stingray skin, with stainless rings for grip. This method of wrap does NOT slip. Period. It's actually one of my favorites I've ever done to be honest.

Please feel free to comment here or send me a PM if you're interested. I have a friend who works with kydex who might be willing to do sheaths for a fee, if that's something you're interested in as well.

    Thanks!
