Lovely knives, Jim. I really like the look of the Takda (Takeda?) Nakiri. That's very bad news, indeed.

I was lucky enough to meet Takeda San at the NYCKS and hand pick the knives I purchased from him with his input. This one is a dream to use and is super thin behind the edge. Just drops through everything with no effort. There have been some feedback over the last couple of years that his knives have been less finished and can be all over the place spec wise.

Dangit... amazing news... followed by horrible news, this is a knife you certainly want, if you get a good one lol

Dave Martell make a very nice Nakiri and its an even a better cutter than the Takeda.

What's that blade shape on the longer knife? I like the tip shape on that.

Ahh my Dave Martell's Sujihiki 300mm. Its funny Dave and I went round and round on that tip I decided that he is making the knife so I guess he knows where he is going with it. He was right.

Does it serve a function? Like maybe to help reinforce the tip, or is it cosmetic?

Well, a Martell Nakiri is on the "want" list now. I doubt it'll ever happen, but it's top o' the list, for sure. My focus has been moved from a Nakaya to a Nakiri. The latter makes far more sense. Thanks, Jim.

It is/was a 270. The knife is enjoying a new home, I literally shaved with it once. amazing steel and pretty knife.

Its one of my best at retaining an edge, the wire just drops off and its very hard but does not chip. It is a Mizu-Honyaki blade but I am not sure how much that is responsible for the Superior performance.

I guess it does and I guess it doesn't, like curves on a sports car?

The last photo with the black background is art. Nice photography. I particularly like the patina on your blades.
