    Another use I like a lot is a partial microbevel. Some want one on the tip when it has been overly thinned. I apply a very obtuse one on both sides starting at the heel -- along 2-3" depending on the blades size -- to allow rougher tasks without having to jeopardize performance of the entire blade.
